There have been many requests for a single stateroom layout for the 42……so below is the Steve Davis rendering of how it would look. The bed is a king size bed and there is plenty of room to move around the spacious stateroom. Also note that the head has two sinks. The entry arrangement to the head is designed so …
Much Progress
We just got back from Trawler Fest in Poulsbo. What a great time and thanks to everyone who came by the booth and/or our two brokerage boats we displayed to say hi. I was surprised at the number of people who told me they are reading this blog and visiting our website regularly. (I guess I should be more diligent …
Superstructure Infusion
I was a bit late getting over for the infusion. As you can see above, the bag is in place and the lines are filled with resin. They began a couple of hours ago and here it is nearly completePatrick (yellow shirt) is inspecting to make sure that the resin is uniformly infusing. You can see all of the tubes …
More Details
In the above picture you can see some of the hydraulic valving, pumps, etc. that comprise the hydraulic system in hull #1. The pump that you see at the left of the picture is attached to the generator and will provide power for the BAT drive “get home” system. The pump is cross plumbed to the main hydraulic system in …
Big Boat Engineering
The articulating rudder is now installed and the upper support bracket can be seen at the right above. This is one very robust stainless steel structure. When they get it assembled with the tiller arm and hydraulics I will point out why our steering system is superior to most installations. Almost everything used in the boat is oversized or larger …
Superstructures, Rudders, and Thrusters..Oh My!!!!
This is the first opportunity that I have had to see the superstructure mold uncovered. This thing is huge. Well, I suppose by mega yacht standards it’s not, but this is all one piece that includes the fore deck, Portuguese bridge, cabin sides, starboard walk around deck, stairs, cockpit, etc. Here is another shot of it. That is the forward port …
Tanks…..but no tanks….
The main fuel tank is resting in place. They placed it in the boat to verify it fit and also to see where the aux tanks need to go. The tank has been pressure tested to 2 lbs and it held the pressure overnight. The tank will be removed and all the fittings permanently attached before final installation.Phil is measuring …
Continuation of Yesterday……
The generator arrived, a Northern Lights 12KW unit. At the right is the power take-off cover. We ordered this option because of the BAT drive that we are installing. We may also cross plumb the BAT drive hydraulic system to the main hydraulics as a backup in case of failure. Here is a shot later in the day with the …
Details…..Details…..
There seem to be a lot of details that are getting attended to. The plumbing under the forward lower deck is complete so now Dave and Phil can position the deck so that Greg can bond it in place. The Lifeline batteries are in their position in the Lazarette. There are 4 for the house bank, 2 for the inverter …
FUBAR Plus
Some months ago my friend Bruce Kessler (Spirit of Zopilote) asked me if I would put up a sign in our booth at Trawlerfest in Solomons, MD. Always willing to help a friend, I said: “Sure”. The sign was the first public information about the upcoming FUBAR Odyssey (see sidebar for link to their website). The FUBAR Odyssey is to …
